Bus death sentence delay

THE sentencing of a driver who crashed his bus killing an elderly passenger was postponed yesterday.

Saeed Abbas, 25, from Little Horton, Bradford, was due to be sentenced yesterday at Bradford Crown Court, having admitted last December that he caused death by dangerous driving.

But the case was again adjourned for more reports.

Abbas was at the wheel of an X6 double-decker bus when it veered off Bradford Road, Fartown, in September 2006, injuring more than 30 passengers.

Passenger Albert Rowley, 82, from Brighouse, suffered a compound leg fracture. He died nearly three weeks later at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Abbas was bailed for sentencing at Bradford Crown Court on February 8.
