A HUDDERSFIELD man is celebrating the opening of his new business by raising money for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.
Mark Robertson, who owned the former Soapy Joe’s car wash at Cowlersley, is starting a new venture, Total Hand Carwash, on Tandem Industrial Estate in Waterloo.
To mark the opening on Saturday, he will donate his first day’s takings to the charity, which is raising £3m to build a children’s hospice and respite centre at Brackenhall.
He plans to pay his staff’s wages from his own money.
Open day entertainment will be provided with displays by junior footballers from Sports Makes Sense, a Huddersfield organisation which runs sports activities for adults and children to promote fitness and social skills.
The open day will be attended by the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Jean Calvert.
