Fuel bill ‘drop-in’ sessions
Jan 29 2008 by Neil Atkinson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
KIRKLEES Council has organised more drop-in sessions to advise residents on how they can reduce their fuel bills.
The move follows huge increases in gas and electricity prices.
Clr Martyn Bolt, Kirklees Council’s Cabinet member responsible for energy said: “People can get expert advice on reducing their energy bills, and information on the Warm Zone project which offers free cavity wall and loft insulation, and other advice and information.
“Kirklees Warm Zone is the only council-backed energy scheme offering free cavity wall and loft insulation to every Kirklees resident regardless of their income or age.
“The programme also offers debt advice help and the opportunity to have a benefit entitlement check.
“Free insulation measures could save householders up to 50% on their annual heating costs.”
At the drop-in sessions, residents will need to bring along their last four electricity and gas bills for advice on which is the right price tariff for them.
