Officer hurt in 999 crash

A POLICEMAN has been badly hurt while answering a 999 call.

The traffic policeman based in Holmfirth suffered a serious neck injury when his marked Vauxhall Vectra was in collision with a Renault Megane on Woodhead Road, Holmfirth, at 4.10pm yesterday.

The other car is believed to have pulled out of a side road and the motorist has been reported for summons.

The officer was responding to an emergency call at Holme Moss.

He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.
