Young poet breaks into print with a winner

YOUNG writer Shannon Morgan (pictured), 12, from Dalton has won an award for her poetry.

The prize-winning poem called Caught Out about a young girl being caught sneaking out to a party was entered into the Young Writers’ Competition by her school, King James’s School in Almondbury.

Shannon’s piece will be included in a new publication Talking ’bout my Generation Verses which will be out in April.

Her mum, Michelle Morgan, is very proud of Shannon’s achievements.

She said: “It’s nice to know that the school are encouraging creative writing, and helping to build her confidence.”
