Famous names from the school’s past include (from right) Olympic runner Derek Ibbotson, actor Gorden Kaye and England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.

The school’s charter was granted by King James 1 in 1608.

The charter was lost and only reunited by chance with the school in 1952 during a visit to Leeds.
