Chef misses out in regional final

AN Almondbury school chef has narrowly missed out on securing a place in a national competition. Simon Flood, kitchen manager at King James’s High School, battled it out against seven other chefs in the East of England final of School Chef of the Year 2008. Simon, 38, cooked-up a feast of fruity Moroccan chicken and baked egg custard tart in the contest, held in Nottingham. He lost out to school cook Dawn Dale from Whitby.
