Youngsters at many schools dressed as their favourite characters to mark World Book Day.

They brought the characters very much alive, from Harry Potter to animals from Alice Through The Looking Glass, proving that the written word remains very much alive and well in the TV and computer age.

Youngsters dressed up as their favourite book characters at Little Acorns nursery in Mirfield.
