House flood drama

A MILKMAN saved an elderly man from harm when he saw water gushing from his home.

The milkman, who does not want to be named, was on his rounds in Dalton when he saw the water gushing out of a door at a bungalow on Cross Cottages at 5am yesterday.

The elderly man living there was fast asleep in bed and the milkman roused him by banging on the door.

He said: “Water was gushing everywhere.

“He had been having some work done inside his home and something had clearly gone badly wrong with it overnight.’’

The elderly man had got wet and the milkman phoned for an emergency plumber. While he was doing that part of the kitchen ceiling came crashing down.

Luckily the elderly man was in the living room, putting some dry clothes on.
