Storms lashtown

HUDDERSFIELD was lashed by gales and driving rain early today.
The town, along with other areas of Britain that escaped the worst of the storms earlier this week, woke up to a battering today.
Motorists were warned to take extra care, particularly on trans-Pennine routes such as the M62.
And rail travellers faced delays as companies brought in 50mph speed limits on routes across Yorkshire.
The westerly storm front sweeping in from the North Atlantic also brought snow to high ground in northern England and southern Scotland.
The Highways Agency said high ground could experience “temporary blizzard conditions” today.
The Met Office has issued a severe gale warning for most of the country.
It also says that disruption to transport and power supplies is possible.
