Evening at golf club raises £3,800

AN APPEAL to build a children’s hospice has been given a £3,800 cash boost.

A black tie evening was held at Woodsome Hall Golf Club, Fenay Bridge, in February, to raise money for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

Around 70 people attended the private event, organised by a Huddersfield group of friends.

They enjoyed a champagne reception and dinner followed by a cabaret of show songs.

Local vocalists Richard Cook, Diane Robinson, Julia Garbutt and Norman Mellor provided the musical entertainment, accompanied by Geoffrey Bottomley.

Derek Jay had the audience in stitches with humorous monologues.

The money was raised through ticket sales, generous sponsorship and donations.
