Hospice group’s £10,000

A VILLAGE support group raised over £10,000 for Kirkwood Hospice in 2007.

The Kirkheaton group – founded in 1982 – handed the cheque to Kirkwood fundraiser Kate Leadbeater at its Easter Fair in the village’s Liberal Club.

The cash was raised by gifts, the group’s annual anniversary draw, fairs, concerts, discos and themed evenings throughout the year.

A group spokesman said they wanted to thank the people of Kirkheaton for their help and gifts.
