MORNINGS OF FUN
FAMILIES had fun together during special workshops in New Mill.
They spent the morning learning about playing traditional board games like draughts, snakes and ladders and dominoes during the event which involved local primary schools.
Wooldale Junior and Kirkroyds Infants Schools worked together with the Extended Schools Service to organise the event at Kirkdale Out of School Club.
Chris Wood, head teacher at Kirkroyds Infants School said: “The aim of the mornings is to give busy families the chance the get together to learn a new skill and have lots of fun together.”
Examiner photographer Andy Catchpool captured that fun and excitement in these lovely shots.
Mrs Wood added: “The sessions have evolved because of the close working relationships between the three local schools, Kirkroyds, Wooldale and Lydgate, local pre-schools and day nurseries and now we have the new Kirkdale building available it was felt this was an ideal opportunity for learning.
“We have asked parents in their evaluation forms on the sessions what other activities they would like to try and we are hoping to offer them on a regular basis with families looking forwards to the next event and making it a firm date in their diary.”
Eleven families with younger and older siblings took part in the board game workshop.
An earlier workshop focussed on craft making and included making Russian dolls and Masai jewellery.
