Students in state of Flux

A TEAM of students from Huddersfield University beat off competition from nine other universities to win £500 and book their place in the national final of a contest.

The team triumphed at the regional final of the Flux competition at Leeds Metropolitan University.

The competition, sponsored by KPMG accountants, has quickly become established in the university calendar.

Thousands of students applied to represent their university, but only the top six go on to each regional final.

The competition brought together students from a wide range of disciplines, with science, the humanities, the arts, languages and social science all well represented.

The teams were supported by a range of business experts, on hand to provide guidance and support in a series of concentrated meetings and covering topics such as finance and marketing, helping to simulate a real commercial operation.

Following 10 hours of intensive activity, the winning team pitched a company specialising in creating exclusive chocolates. The experts were unanimous in their admiration of how well they had done.
