Motorway crash – 4 hurt

FOUR people hurt in a motorway crash near Huddersfield all escaped with minor injuries.

They were in a Vauxhall Astra that was involved in an accident with a lorry on the Manchester-bound carriageway, just after junction 23 at Outlane.

The smash, at 5am on Saturday, happened close to Outlane Golf Course and the car hit a lamp-post and spun around after it had been in collision with the lorry.

Four people were in the car and three were still in it when paramedics and firefighters arrived.

They were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, suffering whiplash, bumps and bruises.

Watch Manager Andy Medlock, from Brighouse fire station, said: “The initial report was quite vague and confusing and, at one point, it sounded like the incident was at Chain Bar involving two lorries, which is why so many fire engines were sent.’’

Fire crews were sent to the scene from Huddersfield, Brighouse, Elland, Cleckheaton and Hunslet in Leeds.
