Can you give a new home to neglected Molly?

A NEGLECTED dog needs a new home.

Molly, a black and white border collie, had a serious skin condition.

Her former owner Robert Barnes, of Kirkburton, was this week sentenced for causing unnecessary suffering.

Molly (pictured) was found wandering the streets last May. She was suffering from severe pyoderma - a skin disease causing ulcers - and was 2kg underweight.

RSPCA inspector Nicky Foster said: “Molly was in an awful state when I first saw her. She was very sore and scratching constantly, which of course was making it worse.

“Mr Barnes had been attempting to treat the condition with pet shop-bought remedies but they clearly weren’t having an effect.

“Owners are responsible for their animals’ needs, including protecting them from pain, suffering and disease. Unfortunately in this case Mr Barnes failed to do that.”

Barnes, of Temple Farm in Kirkburton, was sentenced at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday.

The 58-year-old was fined £250, given a conditional discharge and deprived of the dog.

Following treatment Molly is back to full health and in need of a good home.
