LOCAL history was the focus of a spring contest held by the West Yorkshire Federation of the Townswomen’s Guild.

Members from Lepton, Almondbury, Mirfield, Woodhouse and Lindley Tower met at Greenhead Masonic Lodge.

They presented photos and memorabilia about their areas from the past and present.

Deputy Mayor of Kirklees Clr Karam Hussain judged their efforts.

He named Lindley Tower as the winners, with Lepton second.

Members also enjoyed talks from two speakers at the annual event.

Peter Bray presented Huddersfield, A Closer Look and Jenny Liddington gave a talk on the suffragettes.
