HUDDERSFIELD has many magnificent buildings we should be proud of, a historian has said.
Brian Haigh says that many people do not notice the buildings as they walk round the town.
But often people realise the grandeur of them once they are changed or gone.
The project officer at the Huddersfield University archives department is running a day-long seminar on the Buildings of Huddersfield.
It will give people the chance to find out about the history, architecture and social history of the town.
He said: “Much of Huddersfield town centre dates back to the 1870s.
“We have some magnificent buildings in the town and some truly stunning architecture.
“Many people take in the buildings when they walk around but some people don’t really see them in detail.
“It’s often not until something is gone or changed that people realise what once was there.”
The seminar will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 10am until 3.30pm at the Castle Hill Suite at the University of Huddersfield.
