Asbo man to face trial
Mar 21 2008 by Joanne Douglas, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THE case against a Huddersfield man accused of theft has been sent for trial.
Daniel McVeigh, 23, has been charged with two thefts, being a trespasser with intent to steal and breaking his Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo).
He appeared before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.
It is alleged that McVeigh, of Bucks Field, Marsh, stole a £15 bottle of champagne from Marks and Spencer last December 16.
It is also said that McVeigh entered the O2 shop in Huddersfield some time between January 15 and 18 as a trespasser with intent to steal.
He was further charged with entering a house as a trespasser and stealing goods worth £200 and breaking his Asbo between December 23 and December 26 by trespassing and stealing property.
McVeigh – who is on remand and was again remanded in custody – admitted a charge of failing to surrender to bail on January 17.
He was sentenced to a day in prison for that offence.
McVeigh was sent for trial at Bradford Crown Court on April 7.
