Our school play was truly amazing
TALENTED pupils put on a show-stopping performance of a West End classic.
The pupils of Rawthorpe High School performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as their spring play.
Bridget Crabtree, community manager at Rawthorpe, said the play was one of the best staged at the school.
She said: “The play was superb, everyone who saw it said how wonderful it was. We had about 70 young people taking part in the production from those backstage to those performing.
“They should all feel really proud of what they have achieved.”
Pupils at the school only started rehearsing and planning Joseph after the Christmas break.
They spent a lot of their spare time creating the scenery, learning their lines and rehearsing the play, which was staged at the school last week.
“They all really enjoyed it, it gave them such a great sense of achievement,’’ Bridget added.
“There is always a real buzz around the school when there is a show on.”
Joseph was directed by Helen Turnbull, head of expressive arts, Lucy Eastwood, head of drama and Becky Sutcliffe, an English and drama tutor.
Jack Wakefield played the lead part of Joseph.
They are now preparing for their Summer Serenade concert.
