Scouts go up in the world
Mar 25 2008 by David Himelfield, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
SCOUTS from around West Yorkshire climbed the equivalent of Everest and Kilimanjaro to raise money for a dormitory for Nepalese schoolchildren.
Around 20 scouts aged 14 to 25 ascended over 14,000 metres in a 24-hour session on a climbing wall at Bradley Wood Scout camp.
The team raised £700 and the money will fund Project Nepal where 40 scouts will build a dormitory for a school in Malemchigaon, Nepal. Some pupils of the school have to travel for a day to get to school and many sleep over on the school floor.
The scouts are also building a replica of the five bedroom dormitory at Bradley Wood.
