Man accused of attacking pensioner in court

THE man accused of attacking a widower of 82 at his home has been in court.

Owen Charles McCann, 38, of no fixed address, made his first appearance before a judge at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

McCann appeared before the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Stephen Gullick for a preliminary hearing.

He was told that his trial had been given a date of August 11.

But McCann, who remains in custody, will have to come back to the crown court on June 30.

On that day the charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated burglary are due to be formally put to McCann for him to enter his pleas.
