BOSSES at Holmfirth Swimming Pool are hoping more people will be tempted to take the plunge following a £1m revamp.

The pool is now back in use after a five-month programme of work.

Operations manager Alison Morris said: “The building was more than 30 years old and so it was ready for an upgrade.

“We are really pleased with the results and hope that our customers will feel the same.

“The refurbishment is fantastic for Holmfirth Pool and one which will hopefully have a positive impact on the local community by giving them the opportunity to lead a healthier lifestyle through a little extra exercise.”

Work on the refurbishment started in November.

There is now a new ceiling in the pool hall and a new store room which has been built on the side of the building.

The changing rooms have been refurbished with new fixtures, fittings, showers, flooring and walls. There is also a new unisex disabled changing room.

The front of the building has been extended to include a new reception area and private consultation room for customers on the GP referral scheme PALS.

The filtration and ventilation systems have been upgraded, and all electrics were replaced.

A new timetable includes swimming for over-50s, waterbabies and junior and adult swimming lessons.

To mark the pool’s reopening, Kirklees Active Leisure is running a competition to win a free pool party.
