AGEING buildings near Huddersfield town centre will be demolished.
Councillors voted yesterday to tear down workshops and an office on Vine Street off Leeds Road in Fartown.
A new split-level workshop and office will go up on the 1.4 hectare site which is used by Kirklees Council’s transport department.
The council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee voted unanimously yesterdayto give the go-ahead.
Sub-committee member Clr Robert Iredale welcomed the redevelopment.
The Golcar Lib Dem said: “It’s about time. The condition of that site is a disgrace. It’s indicative of the century before last.”
