DRIVERS have been hit with instant fines in Dewsbury. Police mounted a special operation targeting law-breaking motorists following concerns from the public. And in just two hours they handed out 10 penalty tickets. Officers stationed on Chickenley Lane were stopping vehicles and issuing tickets for a range of motoring offences, from not wearing a seatbelt to having no vehicle tax. A NATURE treasure hunt to celebrate the opening of a community orchard takes place at Hey Green, Lowerhouses Lane, Lowerhouses, between 11am and 1pm tomorrow. The event, at the entrance next to Longley Baptist Church, includes prizes, free refreshments and a guided tour around the site. The former redundant pasture was transformed into a nature reserve by Newsome Ward Community Forum, Environmental Alliance and pupils of Lowerhouses Junior School.
