WORK is underway to improve allotments in Huddersfield.
Kirklees Council is clearing derelict sheds and plots (pictured) at Cemetery Road in Edgerton. A new fence is also being erected.
The £30,000 work is part of a £1.8m package to improve allotments in Kirklees.
The council’s Cabinet member for leisure and neighbourhood services, Clr Liz Smaje, said: “Demand for plots is on the increase.
“We are looking to improve allotment sites throughout Kirklees, bringing them up to a standard that provides allotment holders and communities with safe and accessible environments.”
