Traffic chaos after pile-up

A BUSY road was shut down after a pile-up.

Police closed the A58 Leeds Road at Hipperholme after a three-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon, but it opened later in the day.

The accident happened near the busy crossroads in the centre of Hipperholme.

A blue Suzuki motorcyle, ridden by a man, was in collision with a red Vauxhall Vectra and a blue Ford Transit van.

One person was hurt and was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Traffic queues stretched back towards Stump Cross and the junction with the A6036 towards Northowram.
