WEST Yorkshire Chief Fire Officer Phil Toase opened a new community room at Marsden Fire Station.

The room on Manchester Road is available for use by community groups and will be used to teach fire safety to the public.

It includes conferencing facilities including a video screen and projector.

Station Manager Paul Suchi said: “We’d like to see societies, toddler and baby groups and other groups using it.

“It’s double-edged because they can use the room and we can teach them about fire safety.”
