Another explosion at Huddersfield’s incinerator is “virtually zero” said Kirklees Council environment manager Steve Noble, as work at the plant in Vine Street, Hillhouse, nears its end. In September, 2006, a water pipe burst, causing an explosion which led to carbon monoxide escaping. The incinerator was quickly back in action, but it was decided a refit was needed. Work began in April. Mr Noble said: “ We should be burning waste by July 14.” Read
