Burning by July

Another explosion at Huddersfield’s incinerator is “virtually zero” said Kirklees Council environment manager Steve Noble, as work at the plant in Vine Street, Hillhouse, nears its end. In September, 2006, a water pipe burst, causing an explosion which led to carbon monoxide escaping. The incinerator was quickly back in action, but it was decided a refit was needed. Work began in April. Mr Noble said: “ We should be burning waste by July 14.”
