More police in holidays

MORE police will be sent to Huddersfield troublespots this summer.
Councillors approved money for two extra officers to go into areas with high anti-social behaviour problems over the school holidays.
They will be used in Kirkheaton, Lepton, Lowerhouses and Newsome.
Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield South Area Committee agreed on Tuesday to spend £5,000 on the extra officers to be sent in two nights a week for 14 weeks.
Clr Julie Stewart-Turner, of Newsome ward, supported the cash move.
She said: “We’re very keen to have these extra resources in our area.”
Clr Molly Walton also approved the money, but asked for a report into how the cash was used.
The Crosland Moor and Netherton councillor said: “I’m not prepared to give £5,000 to the cops without having some say on what they’re going to do with the money.
“I don’t want to fund two cops to sit at a tenants’ meeting, for example.”
