Bandit’s speedy justice

A MAN wanted by police after failing to turn up at court handed himself in and faced swift justice.

Michael Maguire, 23, was wanted for breaking a community order and was last known to be living at Coombe Road in Milnsbridge.

After his name was featured in the Examiner last week he handed himself into police on Monday morning.

He appeared before Huddersfield magistrates later in the day and was sentenced to eight weeks in jail for breaking the order.

Bail bandits can tie up valuable police time as officers try to catch them.

Discovering where they are takes officers away from being out and about on patrol, clamping down on anti-social behaviour and crime.

The scheme has been pioneered by the Examiner and officers from Kirklees CID’s intelligence unit.
