Arrests follow town centre scratch card raid

POLICE swooped quickly after a smash and grab raid at a Huddersfield town centre newsagents.

The thieves smashed a door panel to get into Westgate News at Westgate at around 1.50am yesterday and stole a box containing scratch cards.

Two suspects were spotted at New North Parade and were detained by police at St John’s Road near Huddersfield ring road.

A police dog found the box containing the scratch cards nearby. Further inquiries led to two more arrests. Four men were questioned yesterday by police.
