Town fans tuck into history and chips!

TOWN fans will step back 100 years in the team’s high-profile centenary year curtain-raiser against Arsenal.

For they can get traditional British favourite fish and chips wrapped in newspaper – the Examiner from 1908.

So while they munch away they can find out what the team did in its first-ever games.

The meals will be available at the Galpharm during the club’s match against Arsenal on Wednesday evening. Already 13,000 tickets have been sold for the game, which kicks off at 7pm.

The fish and chips come wrapped in newspaper which carries the Examiner’s reports on Town’s first games 100 years ago.

Christine Smith, deputy general manager of Galpharm caterers EMC, came up with the idea.

She said: “Because it’s the centenary game and it’s fish and chips I thought it would be good to wrap them in newspaper covering the first matches in 1908.

“I visited the Examiner’s librarian, Stephen Carter, and he was kind enough to find the reports for me and do up a mock front page.”
