Aloha to Hawaii!

WHEN Jack Willans chose his university he adopted a blue sky thinking approach.
He also thought out of the box, out of his town, out of his county and even out of his country.
For 18-year-old Jack wanted to do a degree in marine biology, but was keen to get underwater somewhere he could actually see the aquatic wildlife.
So he trawled the internet and found the perfect course . . . at the Pacific University in Hawaii.
The Honolulu-based university offered everything – blue skies and deep blue water with around a third of the course practical field trips in the sea.
The marine biology department even has its own exploration vessel.
Jack, of Scapegoat Hill, said: “There are universities that offer marine biology in the UK – but many of them are inland or are ports.
“When I went looking on the internet I was amazed to come across the Hawaii Pacific University, so I applied and I’ve been lucky enough to be accepted.
“I wanted to go out in the world and explore it. Now I can’t wait to start.’’
