The association bought The Pavilion in April. It is part of the historic Fartown sports complex, which was home to a cricket ground graced by Yorkshire games and a rugby pitch where the all-conquering Huddersfield Rugby league side enjoyed their finest years.
It was last used as a nightclub and venue for parties but has not been open to the public for almost two years.
As a result it has been left to ruin and many of the building’s materials have been stripped and stolen.
Mr Ahmed added: “We understand this place has significant historical importance. Many of us live around here know that.
“Our plan is to restore The Pavilion to how it was, not knock it down and replace it.
“We hope on Thursday our plans will be approved.
“If they are not we will find out why and try to resolve the issues that have led to it being refused.”
