GUN-WIELDING robbers forced a terrified manageress to open a pub safe before fleeing with thousands of pounds.
A gang of balaclava-clad men are believed to have made off with about £4,000 from the Nag’s Head at Ainley Top.
The four – one armed with a handgun – burst into the New Hey Road pub at about closing time on Monday.
Adam Mydlowski, 23, was in the pub with friends Lloyd Howarth and Richard Goodrun, also 23, at the time.
He said: “They started shouting at us to get down on the floor and one of them shut the curtains.
“I thought it was a bit surreal and didn’t really understand what was going on.
“I thought it was a mickey-take, then one of them started waving a gun in my face. At that point I thought I should hit the deck.
“At the time I was thinking ‘Please don’t shoot anyone.’
“They got hold of one of the workers and were demanding the keys to the safe.”
