New move to help save Lindley Moor green

AN ACTION group to keep Lindley Moor green is back on the scene.

The response comes following rumours that an industrial development could be built on the huge expanse of land covering 31 hectares between Crosland Road and Lindley Moor Road.

Lindley councillor Tony Brice and Colne Valley Conservative candidate Jason McCartney plan to reform Lindley Moor Action Group (LMAG).

LMAG, which has been largely inactive since 2001, had campaigned to protect the moor since 1991.

Lindley Moor lost its Green Belt status in 1985.

Under a Unitary Development Plan (UDP) in the 1990s it was declared a brownfield site, where development is often encouraged.
