Cowlersley folk have Olympic fun day

PEOPLE of Cowlersley beat the post-Olympics blues with a sporting fun day of their own on Sunday.

Families enjoyed an Olympic style competition followed by a football tournament, young versus older people’s tug of war and silly sports races.

The event, organised by Communities United Project (CUP) and Cowlersley Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (CTRA), included tombola, food and bric-a-brac stalls.

All proceeds, from the days aimed to promote community spirit, went to CTRA.

Cora Carter, of CTRA, said: “This day is for all residents in the Cowlersley community young and old to come together and enjoy themselves.”
