Extra cops for Elland as men appear on murder charge
Sep 2 2008 by Neil Atkinson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
POLICE have stepped up patrols in Elland in the aftermath of a young father’s death.
A number of officers last night patrolled the network of streets close to the town centre where 33-year-old Billy Khan lost his life.
Groups of residents gathered on street corners as officers on foot and in police vehicles patrolled the area.
There was an air of tension as residents still struggled to come to terms with the violence which cost Mr Khan his life.
Police are still trying to unravel the reasons for the street fracas in Elland.
And as two men from the same part of the town were remanded in custody charged with his murder and with the attempted murder of his brother Yusuf, tributes poured in for the dead man.
