More than 50 cannabis factories found in town this year

MORE than 50 cannabis “factories” have been uncovered in Huddersfield so far this year, it was revealed today.

And police believe help from the public is helping them win the drugs war.

A number of the 56 factories uncovered in private houses and commercial premises have been on a large scale, including the latest raid last week in Crosland Moor.

Police seized cannabis plants with a street value of more than £½m when they acted on a tip-off and raided a house in Ivy Street, Crosland Moor.

Every room in the house had been converted to a drugs “farm”, by people who had installed expensive hydroponics growing equipment.

Police revealed that a tip-off from a member of the public led them to the rented house.
