Home to roost!
BIRD enthusiast Jonathan Lane loves to study our feathered friends.
So he was especially pleased when a visiting owl chose to roost in the chimney of his outhouse at his home on Holmfirth Road in New Mill.
A tawny owl has set up home in the chimney and has been a regular sight in Mr Lane’s garden for the past five weeks.
Property developer Mr Lane, who shares the house with his father Eric, thinks the owl is a baby as it does not have its full adult plumage.
At first it was accompanied by an adult tawny owl, but this has not been seen for several weeks.
Mr Lane said: “The owl is quite unusual because we often see it in the day. Normally they only come out at night.
“It seems to go off at night, but it is here four days out of five, watching you as you go around the garden.”
