Mournian murder trial: Sarah's body lay hidden for five months
Sep 3 2008 By Joanne Douglas
DRUG addict Kevin Newton murdered a prostitute and then buried her body in the cellar of the Birkby house he shared with his wife, a jury heard.
The body of Sarah Mournian lay undiscovered for more than five months after the mother-of-one went missing on September 17, 2007.
It is alleged that Newton murdered the prostitute then concealed her body in the cellar of his home on Grisedale Avenue, Birkby.
The body was only discovered after Newton’s estranged wife Mary Golder noticed a vile smell coming from the cellar.
Five weeks after police arrested and charged Newton with murder, police found the decomposed body of the 33-year-old concealed beneath wooden panelling of the cellar.
Newton, 40, is facing trial for the murder of Sarah Mournian at Leeds Crown Court.
