Woman fined after man dumps her rubbish

A WOMAN has been ordered to pay £250 after giving a man £10 to take away her rubbish.

Musarrat Bano pleaded guilty at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court to failing to transfer household waste to an authorised person.

The magistrates heard that Bano paid a man £10 to take away bags of rubbish and old clothes from her home on Springbank Crescent, Bradley Mills.

Bano, 51, told the court: “I’m really sorry. This person approached me and offered to take the rubbish away.

“I didn’t think to look at his badge.

“I asked him to take some of the bags to the incinerator and some to Oxfam.”

But Carol Holberry, prosecuting for Kirklees Council, said all the bags – including the rubbish – were found outside Oxfam’s shop on Colne Road.

Letters addressed to Bano were found among the rubbish.

She was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 costs.
