Open day at garden helps raise funds

A COUPLE raised cash for Kirkwood Hospice in their back garden.

Frank and Margaret Lodge, of Waterloo, raised £650 last month for the charity through a cake stall, tombola and plant sales.

The couple has raised about £20,000 for local charities over the last 20 years.

Retired engineer Frank, 75, said: “We like to support local events and charities. We have a large garden with a lot of plants including unusual species and it’s nice to share it.”

They are pictured as they presented the proceeds from the day to Kate Leadbeater, community fundraiser from the hospice.
