EVIL Kevin Newton will serve more than 15 years behind bars for murdering prostitute Sarah Mournian.

The Birkby drug addict was sentenced to 15 years and two months for killing the mother-of-one and burying her body in the cellar of his home.

The 40-year-old killer showed no emotion as he was led away from the dock.

Newton, of Grisedale Avenue, will be kept behind bars until a parole board considers it safe to release him.

Mr Justice Keith told Newton: "For the murder of Sarah Mournian there can only be one sentence and that is life imprisonment.

"Pleading guilty was just about the only realistic way that your version of events must be accepted by the court."

Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan said: "We, the police and Sarah’s family, are pleased that he pleaded guilty.

"But no sentence or tariff will bring Sarah back."
