ALL local football matches on Kirklees Council and school pitches this weekend are off.

The ruling, taken because so many pitches are waterlogged, also affects rugby and cricket, but it’s soccer that will be hardest hit.

Tomorrow is the first day of District League football.

And it’s the first time in memory such a decision has been taken so early in the season.

Decisions about games on private pitches will be down to referees.
