A 49-YEAR-OLD Deighton man was hurt in a hit and run incident.
The victim was knocked down by a car which then drove off.
Firefighters from Brighouse were dealing with a nearby rubbish fire outside a chip shop when they were called over by a passer-by and asked to help the victim.
They gave him first aid and oxygen until paramedics arrived to take the injured man to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
He was conscious while he was treated on the roadside and his injuries are not life-threatening.
The incident happened at the junction of Wiggan Lane and Sheepridge Road in Deighton at about 8.30pm on Saturday night.
