Police hunt hit and run man after Deighton crash

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to help identify the car and the driver.

Pc Dave Briggs from Kirklees Road Traffic Police said: “We were called out to reports of an accident in which a male pedestrian had been hit by a car which had then been driven away.

“We believe the man was crossing Wiggan Lane near its junction with Sheepridge Road when he was hit by the vehicle.

“The man, who is from the Deighton area, had a fractured pelvis and other fractures and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Unfortunately we have not been able to get any details of the vehicle and we are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.”
