Thug robs OAP after forcing way into home

AN ELDERLY man was robbed in his own home by a thug who forced his way in.
The 77-year-old was at his home in Close Hill, Newsome, when he heard a knock at the door and answered it to find an Asian or mixed race man on his doorstep. The suspect used the victim’s first name and asked to borrow some money from the pensioner who immediately refused.
But the culprit became aggressive and threatened violence and pushed his way into the victim’s home.
Police say he made off with a reasonable amount of cash.
Detective Constable Russ Conlon said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for a man of 77 years of age.
“Although there were no injuries caused, he says the suspect became aggressive and struck him and he was left shaken by the ordeal.
“We believe the suspect knew or had been told the complainant’s name by somebody who knows him.
“So we are appealing for anybody with any information to get in touch.”
